For years, Perfect Crime has been regarded by fans as the ultimate lost piece of unreleased Guns N’ Roses footage
A long-lost Guns N’ Roses documentary that has achieved near-mythical status among fans has finally surfaced online after decades out of public view.
Titled Perfect Crime, the film chronicles the band’s turbulent Use Your Illusion tour, which spanned from 1991 to 1993. Although the documentary was reportedly completed in 1994 with a running time of approximately 90 minutes, it was never officially released. A newly leaked 38-minute rough cut has now appeared online, offering fans a rare glimpse into one of rock’s most notorious touring eras.
The footage captures both the excess and unpredictability that defined the period. Among the scenes included are lavish after-parties featuring servers dressed as Roman soldiers, dancers wearing traditional Bavarian attire, a whole roast pig presented on a platter, and crowds of enthusiastic fans. Another memorable moment shows frontman Axl Rose receiving osteopathic treatment beside an airport runway.
The documentary also contains previously unseen interviews and candid behind-the-scenes moments. Viewers can watch former guitarist Izzy Stradlin and guitarist Slash playing music together in a hotel room, while Rose is shown recording a rendition of “Since I Don’t Have You” in the studio. Another sequence captures bassist Duff McKagan being carried from the stage after being struck by a bottle during a performance.
The rough cut also includes complete live performances filmed at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in October 1992, along with interview segments recorded throughout the tour. In one clip filmed in Auckland, New Zealand, Rose reflects on achieving his lifelong dream of success in music, explaining that he never abandoned his ambitions despite the challenges and setbacks he witnessed in the entertainment industry.
Elsewhere in the interview, he discusses how the band’s members remained grounded despite their enormous popularity, emphasizing that they still viewed themselves as the same people they had always been, focused on creating more music and continuing to perform.
Meanwhile, Guns N’ Roses are preparing to launch the European leg of their 2026 world tour. The run will take the band across major cities in Europe before continuing through North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand later in the year. Highlights include performances in Dublin, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, and an appearance at the Download Festival in the United Kingdom, followed by an extensive North American schedule and a series of stadium dates across Australia and New Zealand in November and December.
