Pink Floyd to Reissue Meddle on Special Orange Vinyl for National Album Day

By Website Content Manager

A newly restored high-resolution film of “Echoes,” featuring footage from the Crystal Voyage surf movie and early live performances, is set for release in October.

Pink Floyd are celebrating this year’s National Album Day with a special vinyl reissue of their landmark 1971 album Meddle.

Sony Music will release the new San Tropez Orange Marble vinyl edition on October 17, giving fans a new physical format for the influential record.

Also arriving on the same day is a newly restored high-resolution version of the memorable “Echoes” sequence from the 1973 Australian surf documentary Crystal Voyager. The footage will be shared through Pink Floyd’s official YouTube channel.

Directed by David Elfick, Crystal Voyager was written and narrated by Australian surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough. The film’s closing sequence is particularly notable for its groundbreaking underwater imagery.

Greenough filmed the sequence using a custom-built 17-pound camera rig that he developed specifically for capturing footage in the water. The innovative setup allowed viewers to experience images from inside a breaking wave, something that was considered unprecedented at the time.

The restored “Echoes” film will be released online alongside the limited-edition Meddle vinyl on October 17.
