“It would be a complete honor!” Noel told talkSPORT Drive on Monday, Jan. 5.
Oasis have weighed in on the idea of contributing the theme song for the next James Bond movie.
In an interview with talkSPORT Drive on Monday, Jan. 5, Noel Gallagher discussed the possibility of the band writing for the upcoming film, tentatively titled Bond 26.
When host Andy Goldstein asked the 58-year-old musician if he would welcome a call from long-time Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to create the theme, Noel responded with a playful remark: “I’d say, ‘Alright Babs,’” before adding, “Absolutely, yeah, of course, it’d be an absolute honor!”
Gallagher also shared his opinion that Bond themes should be performed by British artists rather than Americans.
Although he hasn’t been contacted by the Bond team yet, Noel said he would be open to appearing on-screen in the film. “I’ll play a villain, I’ll play a Mancunian villain!” he joked.
The franchise’s last James Bond was Daniel Craig, who concluded his tenure with No Time to Die in 2021. Rumors about potential successors have included Callum Turner, who in December 2023 said he hadn’t had any meetings about the role but praised Broccoli as an “amazing producer” and expressed interest in collaborating with her in any capacity.
Other names circulating for the role include Euphoria and Saltburn star Jacob Elordi, as well as Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
In October 2023, Broccoli told The Guardian that work on the next installment hadn’t officially begun. She reflected on Craig’s impact on the character, saying, “Daniel gave us the ability to mine the emotional life of the character … and also the world was ready for it. I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big, big road ahead reinventing it for the next chapter, and we haven’t even begun with that.”
