Liam Gallagher Shares the Future of Oasis Song Inspired by Gary Glitter in Upcoming Tour Setlist

Oasis’s 1995 track “Hello” includes lyrics taken from the disgraced Gary Glitter, who is currently serving time in prison for a sexual abuse conviction.

Liam Gallagher is dismissing claims that a controversial Oasis hit will be excluded from their upcoming reunion tour setlist.

The British rock band had famously used lyrics from Gary Glitter’s 1973 track “Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again” in their own song “Hello” from their 1995 album What’s the Story) Morning Glory.

However, following Glitter’s fall from grace due to child pornography and sexual abuse convictions, reports began circulating suggesting that “Hello” would be omitted from Oasis’ setlist. On May 3, The Sun reported that while the song’s lyrics “would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour,” Liam and his brother Noel Gallagher had “decided to leave it in the past.”

But on May 4, Liam, 52, took to X to set the record straight, stating that contrary to the reports, “Hello” would indeed be part of the setlist.

“We’ll be playing HELLO trust me,” he posted in response to a fan who questioned the accuracy of The Sun‘s story.

Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was convicted of downloading child pornography in 1999, followed by child sexual abuse charges in 2006, and attempted rape in 2015. In 2015, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexually abusing three children between 1975 and 1980, and he remains incarcerated after being denied parole last year, according to the BBC.

The 80-year-old singer still receives royalties from Oasis, as “Hello” includes lyrics from Glitter’s “Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again,” and he holds a songwriting credit for the track.

Oasis announced their reunion tour last year, and the upcoming performances will be the band’s first together since 2009, when they split due to a feud between Liam and Noel.

“I thought it’d be a big deal, but I was a bit taken aback by just how much of a big deal it was,” Noel shared in an interview for Kevin Cummins’ new book, Oasis: The Masterplan, according to NME.

The 57-year-old rocker also shared some of his favorite tracks from Oasis’s extensive catalog, giving a special mention to “Little By Little” and “Stop Crying Your Heart Out” from their 2002 album Heathen Chemistry.

Initially, their reunion tour was announced only for the U.K. and Ireland. However, after the shows quickly sold out, the Gallagher brothers decided to expand the tour to include the United States, more of Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania.

“Got asked a ridiculous question yesterday, are OASIS gonna be as good as you once were because when some bands get back together [they’re] not as good,” Liam wrote on X in November. “I said listen here you C–T even on our bad day we’ll still wipe the floor with the majority of bands out there BUMBACLART LG x.”
