Hayley Williams Drops Surprise Solo Album Ego — But It’s Not on Streaming Platforms
Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has quietly released a new 17-track solo album titled Ego, but fans won’t find it on streaming services or in physical stores today.
Taking an unconventional approach for the follow-up to her 2021 release Flowers for Vases / Descansos, Williams has made Ego exclusively available through her haircare brand, Good Dye Young. Fans who make an online purchase from the company receive a unique 16-digit code via email, allowing them to download the album directly.
As stated on her official website, “Check your inbox for an email from Good Dye Young. If you don’t have a code, you might want to ask a friend for theirs.”
Williams gave the album’s title track its live debut on July 25 during a surprise appearance with Bleachers at the Newport Folk Festival.
Now operating as a fully independent artist after fulfilling her contract with Warner/Atlantic, Williams has complete freedom over how she releases her music.
In recent months, she has also collaborated on other musical projects, including contributing vocals to Seein’ Stars on Turnstile’s latest album Never Enough, and releasing a joint single with Moses Sumney titled I Like It I Like It in May.
