“For the past 15 years, my two children have been waiting at home with my wife,” he shared in a recent interview.
Tobias Forge is taking time to focus on his family.
The Swedish rock band Ghost’s frontman shared on the Full Metal Jackie radio show on Friday, Feb. 22, that he plans to step back from the band in order to “be home” with his children.
Forge, 41, and his wife Boel are parents to two kids, Morris and Minou. Reflecting on the past, he said, “For 15 years, my two children have been waiting at home with my wife. Perhaps that shows something about me—that it wasn’t a strong enough motivator until now.”
He continued, “I’ve definitely felt guilty, but I’ve reached a point where I feel a physical and mental need to be at home. They’re 17, and they won’t be around forever.”
Forge also discussed how the hiatus will give him space to consider the band’s future. “The only way for me to develop new ideas and find fresh inspiration is to step away. That doesn’t mean I’m inactive—I’m currently working on two film projects,” he said.
Ghost concluded its Skeletour World Tour on Monday, Feb. 23, in Inglewood, California. Earlier, the band had to cancel shows in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee in January due to bad weather. “Please heed caution and stay safe,” the band advised in an Instagram post.
The tour promoted Ghost’s sixth studio album, Skeletá, which came out in 2025.
Forge has previously spoken about fatherhood; in a 2022 Alternative Press interview, he discussed supporting his children if they chose to follow in his musical footsteps.
