Ghost make history as the first hard rock band in four years to lead the US album chart, though they fall short in the UK rankings.

Skeletá also achieved the highest vinyl sales in a single week for a hard rock album in over 30 years.
Ghost have made chart history, becoming the first hard rock band to claim the No. 1 spot on the US album chart since AC/DC’s Power Up in 2020. Their latest release, Skeletá, debuted with 86,000 equivalent album units, factoring in physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming.
Notably, 44,000 of those units were vinyl records, marking the strongest vinyl sales week for a hard rock album since data tracking began in 1991. Among all rock releases during that span, only Blink-182’s One More Time… (49,000 in 2023) and Boygenius’s The Record (45,000 in 2023) have posted higher vinyl numbers.
Skeletá follows their 2022 album Impera, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard chart. This time around, Ghost edged out major names like SZA, Kendrick Lamar, and Morgan Wallen to secure the top position. However, they didn’t replicate that success in the UK, where Stereophonics took the lead with their new album Make ‘Em Laugh, Make ‘Em Cry, Make ‘Em Wait. Still, it marks a strong showing for rock music on both sides of the Atlantic.
Skeletá also reached No. 1 on the album charts in several other countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Ghost are currently on the European leg of their Skeletour World Tour, which is set to land in the United States this July. Full tour dates are listed below.
Following their 2022 Billboard No. 2 album Impera, Skeletá secured the top position ahead of releases from artists like SZA, Kendrick Lamar, and Morgan Wallen. Despite this success in the U.S., the UK chart was led instead by the Stereophonics with their album Make ‘Em Laugh, Make ‘Em Cry, Make ‘Em Wait—but overall, it was a strong week for rock music globally.
The success didn’t stop in the U.S. — Skeletá also reached No. 1 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Ghost are currently bringing their Skeletour World Tour to fans across Europe, with the North American leg kicking off in July. Full tour dates are listed below.
