Goldstein was associated with Guns N’ Roses for 17 years, managing the group during a significant period of their career.
Doug Goldstein, the former manager of Guns N’ Roses, has passed away at the age of 65.
Goldstein first joined the band during their Appetite for Destruction tour as a tour manager before eventually becoming co-manager alongside Alan Niven. After Niven’s departure from the group, Goldstein stepped into the main management role and guided the band through the Use Your Illusion era, including the period when the original lineup began to fall apart.
In 2001, Sanctuary, the former management company of Iron Maiden, acquired Goldstein’s company Big FD Entertainment, with Merck Mercuriadis taking over management duties. A statement at the time explained that Goldstein and Axl Rose had not officially ended their professional relationship but were instead “taking a break” from working together.
Goldstein’s LinkedIn profile highlighted his decades of experience in the music industry, noting that success comes from a combination of talent, strong management, and meaningful professional relationships.
Niven paid tribute to his former colleague and friend, expressing sadness over Goldstein’s death and noting that 65 was far too young.
The news comes after Niven’s recent legal dispute with Guns N’ Roses. He previously filed a lawsuit claiming the band made efforts to stop the release of his upcoming memoir, Sound N’ Fury: Rock ’N’ Roll Stories. The book, which covers his experiences in the music business, has faced delays and remains available for preorder with a later publication date.
