During His First Meeting with Aerosmith, Yungblud Booked a Recording Studio on the Off Chance They’d Collaborate

In September 2025, Yungblud joined Aerosmith on stage at the MTV VMAs to honor Ozzy Osbourne.

Yungblud made sure to come prepared before his first hangout with Aerosmith.

During an interview on Loudwire Nights on Monday, Sept. 22, the 28-year-old “Abyss” singer described the initial meetup with the band led by Steven Tyler as feeling like a “first date.”

The musician, born Dominic Harrison, had caught the attention of several rock legends — including Brian May and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry — after releasing his nine-minute track Hello Heaven, Hello. Following Perry’s praise of the song, Yungblud suggested the idea of the group reworking part of it.

“I asked if Aerosmith might want to do a remix of the middle section of Hello,” he recalled. “From there, we jumped on the phone, instantly connected, and set a date to meet up in L.A.”

Anticipating the possibility of a jam session, Yungblud quietly reserved a recording studio without telling the band.

“It was like going on a first date — either you hit it off and go home together, or it’s a disaster,” he joked. Luckily, sparks flew, and the collaboration happened right away.

“We walked into the studio, and within 55 minutes we had My Only Angel,” Yungblud said of the track, which dropped on Sept. 19.

He described the surreal moment of singing with Tyler in the booth: “I’m standing there trading lines with Steven Tyler, thinking, ‘How is this real?’ Then we listened back in the mixing room and realized, ‘Wow, our voices blend so well.’”

The pair’s energy pushed each other to greater heights, with Yungblud recalling an “explosion of color” as he and Tyler challenged one another vocally.

That chemistry carried over to the stage. Tyler, Perry, and Yungblud came together at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards to honor the late Ozzy Osbourne, who passed in July at 76. With Nuno Bettencourt joining them, they delivered a powerhouse tribute set featuring “Crazy Train,” “Changes,” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

Not long after, the new collaborators released My Only Angel as the lead single from their upcoming EP One More Time.

In a statement celebrating the release, Tyler praised Yungblud as “outrageously talented” and “a positively wild animal.” He added, “Here’s this kid who lives out loud, grew up on our records and the British invasion, and now we’re making music together that connects generations.”
