Carly Rae Jepsen Announces 24-Track Double Album Day and Night, Her First New Project in Three Years

A new era of music is coming from Carly Rae Jepsen, and she’s returning with a major release.

On Monday, June 22, the pop star revealed that her upcoming double album Day and Night will mark her first full project in three years.

Sharing the album artwork on Instagram, Jepsen, 40, celebrated the announcement by telling fans that the project would arrive on Sept. 18. She also revealed that the first single, “On Wires,” would be released that Friday.

According to a press release, Day and Night will include 24 songs, divided into two sections — 12 tracks representing “Day” and 12 representing “Night.”

The album is described as creating a dreamlike atmosphere where the boundaries between nighttime and daytime become blurred, capturing the feeling of being caught in a continuous emotional moment.

For the project, Jepsen collaborated with producers and songwriters including Tavish Crowe, Kyle Shearer, Nate Cyphert, and Cole M.G.N.. Together, they developed two different musical styles for the album.

The Day portion will feature live instruments and influences from psychedelic pop inspired by the 1970s, while Night will explore a more intense, electronic sound filled with synth-driven dance-pop elements.

The album is expected to explore a wide range of emotions, including happiness, fear, romance, anxiety, fantasy, and the many experiences that come between those feelings.

Jepsen’s most recent release was The Loveliest Time in 2023, a collection of additional tracks connected to her 2022 album The Loneliest Time.

Earlier this year, Jepsen also entered a new chapter in her personal life after welcoming her first child with her husband, Cole M.G.N.. She shared the happy news through an Instagram Story, describing the first two weeks with her newborn as the best time of her life.
