AC/DC Icon and Legendary Guitarist Team Up to Cover Led Zeppelin at Famous Baseball Star’s Wedding

By Website Content Manager

Chances are, many wedding guests were absolutely stunned by what they witnessed!

Mark Tremonti and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson Jammed Led Zeppelin at a Baseball Star’s Wedding

Mark Tremonti, guitarist for Alter Bridge and Creed, once had the chance to cover Led Zeppelin alongside legendary AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson — and it happened in the most unexpected setting.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Tremonti revealed that the impromptu collaboration took place at the wedding of former baseball player Johnny Damon in Florida in 2004.

“Johnny’s a well-known baseball player in the U.S.; he lives in my neighborhood and we’re friends,” Tremonti explained. “He invited us to his wedding, and Brian Johnson happened to be there. Someone said, ‘You should ask Brian if he wants to get onstage and jam with you. Just dive in on the wedding band’s setup!’”

Seizing the moment, Tremonti approached Johnson while he was getting a drink. “I walked up and said, ‘Hi Brian, I’m Mark, a guitar player. Want to go onstage and jam a few songs?’” Tremonti recalled. “He looked at me and said, ‘Fuck yeah, mate!’ — no hesitation at all.”

The two ended up performing three songs together. Tremonti specifically remembers the first: “Rock and Roll” from Led Zeppelin’s classic 1971 album Led Zeppelin IV.

“We didn’t play any AC/DC songs,” Tremonti noted. “After that, other people started jumping onstage, and I think I played two more songs, though I can’t recall exactly what they were. Eventually, people were like, ‘Oh, I’ll sing!’ and it just turned into a full jam session.”
