Fans and fellow musicians are paying tribute to the 3 Doors Down frontman, praising him for helping “redefine mainstream rock music.”
Brad Arnold, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down, has passed away at 47 after battling cancer.
The band confirmed his death in a statement on their social media accounts, saying: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Brad Arnold, founder, lead vocalist, and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 7, at the age of 47, with his beloved wife Jennifer and family by his side, following his brave fight against cancer.”
The statement also celebrated Arnold’s impact on music, noting that he helped “reshape mainstream rock by combining post-grunge appeal with heartfelt lyrics that connected with everyday listeners.”
The band added: “His music resonated far beyond live performances, creating shared moments of joy, faith, and connection that will endure long after the stages he graced. Those closest to him will remember not only his musical talent but also his warmth, humility, faith, and profound love for family and friends.”
Tributes quickly poured in from fellow musicians. Alter Bridge expressed: “Thank you, Brad. Your friendship is something we will cherish forever.”
Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist reflected: “It’s devastating to know we’ll never get to perform with you again or share a laugh with a friend who’s been part of our musical journey from the start.”
Black Stone Cherry commented on 3 Doors Down’s Instagram post: “We are deeply sorry. Brad was always an incredible, classy person to us. Even before we made it, he supported us. This is a tremendous loss, and our thoughts are with his family and band.”
Shinedown’s Brent Smith added: “Thank you for the music, the songs, your love, your friendship, and for inspiring us all. May your light shine across time and space forever.”
Arnold, a founding member of 3 Doors Down, initially played drums before becoming the band’s full-time vocalist. He revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer.
He began writing songs at a young age, creating the band’s breakthrough hit “Kryptonite” at just 15, while still in school.
